What a ridiculous President
In my opinion, Goodluck Jonathan is probably most ridiculous and insensitive President Nigeria has seen. Even though Abacha & Babangida were tyrants at least they were intelligent & assertive. They had a a vision and a plan. Out of the many problems Nigeria is facing, should renaming one of our most renowned Universities be the next thing on the President’s agenda? If you didn’t know, Goodluck Jonathan just ordered a name change for the University of Lagos UNILAG to MAU (Moshood Abiola University) in celebration of Democracy day.
RIP to the late Moshood Abiola he was a great philanthropist but the University of Lagos is a Government school and the name should proudly represent the state. Does GEJ realize the gravity of this decision? The University of Lagos students have revolted in response and they have blocked the school gates in protest. Neither the National Assembly, the University Governing Council, the University Senate nor any other stakeholder was consulted before the change was announced. School administration has shut down all University activity for 2 weeks. Every local & foreign University or Employer would have to update their database. Alumni certificates will now hold much less weight, and for what purpose?
Justin Combs son of multi-millionaire Hip-Hop mogul Sean ‘P-Diddy’ Combs is being targeted by CNN & other news media for accepting his merit based Football scholarship of $54,000 to UCLA. Some say his parents are extremely wealthy and can easily afford to pay his tuition so they should return the funds or donate it to someone less privileged.
I say if the man earned it, he deserves it. Great going Justin! Keep it up, i’m inspired by this.
